What started as a college thesis from a university that no longer exists became Vancouver's first-ever hard cider company. Our founder discovered his passion for cider while in college. It all began during a carefree autumn weekend when he decided to make a batch of homemade cider using fresh pressed juice from a local farm. From there he was hooked, and thus began the journey that would result in Vancouver’s first ever cidery.

As he delved deeper into cider-making, he found himself fascinated by the fermentation process, the balance of flavors, and the artistry involved in creating something that brings people together. He spent countless hours researching, trying new recipes, and fine-tuning his techniques. Each batch taught him something new, fueling his passion and inspiring him to share his creations with others.

Driven by the belief that cider should be an experience to savor, he decided to turn his hobby into a business. With a vision to create unique, high-quality ciders that celebrate the authentic flavors of the apples, he laid the foundation for Mela Cider. Each bottle reflects the joy, love, and dedication he poured into the craft, inviting everyone to share in the experience he fell in love with during those college days.
